Research shows that young voters aged 18-24+ have the power to determine the outcome of an election. The Debate Project gives young adults the platform to learn, strengthen, and share their perspectives about political hot-button issues.
Debaters are given a topic 48-72 hours prior to the debate. They are also randomly given which side they will argue. Each debater has up to 10 minutes to present their side. Then, each debater has up to 5 minutes to rebut anything that was said by their opponent.
Abortion, Racism, Marriage,
Immigration/Border Patrol, Guns ,
Hate Crimes, Reparations, Climate Change, Voting Age, Gender Identity, Education
Universal Healthcare, and more.
Virtual recordings take place on Thursdays and Saturdays between 3:00-5:00pm (ET), from April until election day. Debates are uploaded to social media within 3-7 days after the debate.
Debaters must be of voting age by the upcoming election. Debaters must be able to participate via Zoom (via computer, tablet or phone). Debaters can sign up to participate in up to two debates.
